Think the 'Rescue club' is a patent by TaylorMade. Utility is the same thing as is hybrid by any other name. Wilson Staff have twisted it into a new thing called a 'Fybrid' and Cleveland (amongst others including Cobra and Callaway) do sets entirely composed from hybrid style clubs from a 4i through to PW.

I don't have a driver but use a 3 wood off the tee and the 21 degree hybrid for second shots on a par five or to promote a ball from a drive landing in the rough.

They also get used for bump-and-runs on a fringe or other tight lies around the green.

I think it's a great club to have and before I had the 3 wood I used it off the tee also.

As far as your situation goes I might be temped to stick with the Halo (even though the shaft doesn't favour your game) and buy a 3 wood replacing the Halo at a later date. Youve got a gaping distance gap in your bag at the moment that it might be better to fill before tweaking shaft set ups.
