Yes I know all that.
But why wouldn't Max let Checo have the first day and a half, sort out any niggles leaving him the second day and a half to use the knowledge learned, it doesn't make sense

If I was a driver, especially a no.1 driver in a team, I would deffo want to go first. Why? If there is any technical issue with the car meaning the car can't run or time is cut short on Day 1 , no.2 driver will get bumped out of his sessions for me. If it's already the last day I get no time on track if a technical issue occurs.

But I wouldn't dare try and speak for a driving God like modest young Max 😂😂

I suppose there is that point of view.
Although, ''Modest'' and ''Max'' are two words not often seen together in the same sentence.

Imagine the chuckles on the RB pit wall if Perez smashed the car into a barrier just b4 lunch on Day 2 of testing just before young Max was due his first go...🙈🙈

Not holding out much hope ahead of next weekend, expecting a stroll to win 1 of 2023 for Max. Would be great to see a proper 3 team scrap for both the drivers and constructors championships, but thinking back over the 40 or so years I've been watching F1, I can't remember that ever happening before. I'd settle for a proper scrap between at least 2 drivers from opposing teams to win the drivers WC.

There is generally considered not to be any bouncing this year because the FIA have changed the regs and increased minimum ride height according to the commentators on Friday.

The Alpine was bouncing really badly thru all 3 days, although why wasn't clear.

Race cars are much safer these days thank god.
Celebrating someone crashing into a wall is bad taste no matter how much you dislike someone

Please note that cars do not drive at full speed on an out lap.

The incident I am referring to was at the 2020 Hungarian Grand Prix if you want to look it up.
It was a bump into the tyre wall, certainly not a crash and to suggest I would celebrate someone crashing is somewhat insulting.

Alonso fastest in FP2 yesterday and again today in FP3 as we head for quali this afternoon. The Red Bulls and Ferraris seem to have a few issues with setup and Mercedes still testing rear wings.

Fernando Alonso, he couldn't, could he??

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted :)

Ended up what I thought after testing but deffo a lot closer time gap wise.

No surprise to see Alonso beat both Mercs, Aston have a great job with their new car.

No massive surprises, although the AM is looking quicker than a lot expected. Think the development penalties will show on RB later into the season as the others start to catch up

Apart from the non-race for the win itself, that was an exciting race to watch. Alonso deffo still has it, made some great moves to come thru the field and get a podium when Ferrari do what they always seem to do these days.

Should be a great scrap behind the Red Bulls over the first few races until we see if anyone can bridge the gap to the front and give Max some competition.

Looks like Aston Martin will be fighting it out with Mercedes this season. Aston signed one of Red Bulls brains , to make such an improvement is amazing. Give Alonso a decent car who knows …

Might as well hand the trophies over now.

If I were Mercedes or Ferrari l’d ignore the cost cap and do whatever was needed to build a faster car. As this has proven to be the best way to win.

It will be interesting to see if F1 do anything to hobble Redbull as they did with Mercedes.

Thankfully the Red Bull clone (Aston) at least made it a bit more interesting. Hasn't gone down well with my sons though as they really don't like Alonso.

Will we see Mercedes accelerate the introduction of their upgrades? I think so.

They may well do, but we may see a long term dominance by Red Bull. Remember Mercedes got their noses in front at the start of the hybrid era, once out in front every team brings upgrades but Mercedes managed to stay ahead. The same could happen with Red Bull. They were just managing their tyres.

Don't disagree unfortunately. The light at the end of the tunnel is that Mercedes could radically change their side pod design and also Red Bull having less wind tunnel time, etc. It's a small light, granted!
