I have a scotty cameron but find the grip a little on the thin side for my hands as they are very large, if i removed the standard grip and put x4 layers of tape under there would it make the grip fatter? more like a mid size?

Fatter, yes. But nowhere near mid-size.

Much better to buy a mid-size in the first place - and much easier to get the grip on too!

It would do, not sure that 4 layers would be enough though. I recently tried an Iomic grip on my putter with 5 layers of tape underneath and to be honest it felt awful. Ended up sticking a Winn jumbo grip on it in the end. Scotty grips can be a bit pricey to replace if it doesn't work out though.

You'd probably need more than 4 layers if I'm honest.

A standard Lamkin iron grip needs 6 layers on a standard (.600) grip to make that a midsize.

You could build the grip up but it wold take a few layers and that may make it tricky to get the grip on.

I've got 5 layers on mine. The grip was pretty new so my mate was able to syringe it off and still use it, he said that anymore tape and it would have rippled and felt horrid.

It suits me, but nowhere near a mid size. :)
