went out today to take part in my first medal thats held the first wednesday of the month, full of confidence after playing pretty decent on sunday in the stableford comp

i had my normal pre round routine only change was i left my driver in the locker and went out with my 3hybrid as my longest club as i had been hitting it sweet as a nut on the sunday

1st hole i bogied so net par

2 hole tee shot with the hybrid pulled left oob took a 7 on the hole

3rd tee shot pulled left oob with the hybrid took a 8 on the hole

4th par 3 hooked oob

5th hybrid pulled oob

i wanted to go home after these yet when i hit the hybrid off the fairway or rough i hit it nice and true

another problem was duffed chips had so many today was awfull i just couldnt go right off the green, on the green and i was ok my putting was good only two 3 putts

when i left the clubhouse there where a cpl of NR's i was dead last gross120 net 92

so golf battered me today and left me a crumpled mess, nothing i can do now tho so put my name down for saturdays gents 4 ball stableford comp best 3 count

it happens Richie, 2 weeks ago I was duffing everything, always coming in steep and couldnt stop myself... following round it was gone. One week I putt well the next I couldnt putt for toffee.

Chin up as theres always the next round.

Did the same on Saturday, been hitting driver long and straight for 3 weeks. Saturday don't think I even hit one decent drive, my irons were all left but worked that out in the week. Expectations certainly disappoint!

I feel your pain Richie! I played tuesday and couldnt hit any club/shot well and ended with 23 points off 17 and a gross 105! Walked down the last few holes gutted mate....18th tee i boomed a lovely straight drive 280, lovely soft SW to 20foot and holed a right swinger of a putt for birdie! :D Those few shots on 18 completely vanished all the crap thoughts and feeling of a terrible day and i walked off with a huge smile on my face, it taught me an important lesson....in my case expect nothing and a couple of good shots make the day worthwhile.

Played again yesterday and hit another birdie and ended with 90 my PB around my new (first) club the difference being i expected nothing so was very happy when i got some nice shots off.

Pick your chin up mate you have to have bad days to have good days and dont worry about massive scores, everybody starts somewhere, just last week i hit 110 and ive been playing for years mate but the more you play the less often the big scores will creep in. ;)

I havent played a comp yet and my first one will be next Saturday, the dreaded monthly medal.... so i will post up my nightmare for you and you will feel better!
