Eurovision

Find it amusing people having a go at the quality of music in Eurovision. Have you looked at the thread about what music golfers listen to?

It is a bit of camp harmless fun, it is not showcasing the best musical talent each country has. If you tune in each year expecting anything different then you are more stupid than I look.

Totally agree.

We watched last nights show for the first time in donkeys years. Apart from the odd bad act we were pleasantly surprised how good many of the acts were. Okay it's not Bon Jovi or Led Zeppelin but it was way better than X's got talent.

And there's always the off button...

We had a mini-party with some mates. It was all very disappointing this year in my view.

Not enough of the following:

"Bingy bangy bong, mingy mangy mong, jingy jangy jong, singy sangy song" lyrics.
Crazily dressed old women banging peculiar percussion instruments.
A general dearth of accordion players.
Provocative milk maids.

High points:

The guy in the gorilla suit.
The guy standing on a step ladder wearing a horse's head.
The two geezers splashing around in a paddling pool.

That's the kind of thing we want. That's TRUE Eurovision.

There you go Johnny, get your dappy song fix here :)

:thup::thup: Possibly the best Eurosong ever, lyrically, but what about "We are the Winners" in particular I'd like to draw your attention to the violin and interpretive dance routine around 1.35.

Sadly their bravado didn't pay off and they weren't the winners. Still, though, top nonsense, eh?

I do kind of like this 'Crap songs in Eurovision shocker' thread as, along with the 'Why do they call it sports personality when the winner does not have a personality!!' thread we get every year, it marks the passing of time well.

You missed the clocks go back/forward threads and what a disgrace that we can't have more daylight...

Wait until the Scots get independence. Then that campaign can really step up and we can have lighter winter evenings south of the border

We're hardly alone and Scotland didn't come up with the idea, an English fellow did and Germans implemented it first, see blue on map -

Just get up a bit earlier;)

Don't like the sound of that, I like my sleep :D. It is you folks who always argue to keep the clocks going back in winter so when the independent Republic of Scotland comes about you can keep that and we will move to European time or whatever it is called.

Ah you're talking about time zone rather than daylight savings? You can sleep early as well as late!

I'm not that old yet. Anyway, more light in the evenings mean you might sneak 9 holes in after work during more months of the year

If you really wanted that change what's stopping it, views of us far northerners doesn't count in Westminster so parliament could get it through, matter doesn't seem to carry enough clout for folks down there to bother with, obviously not many golfers in the Commons desperate for a quick 9 after work.

A few MP's have tried with private members bills but the govt don't tend to give it time and so they fail. It would give the SNP another stick to beat them with and they decide it is not worth the hassle. The argument against changing has always been the problems it creates in Scotland and contrary to popular belief not every govt decision is designed to antagonise the Scots. Really, it isn't :D. If Scotland does go it alone then Westminster doesn't have to worry about the views up there any more so I genuinely think it could get through.
