The Grinder Of Pars (Semi Crocked)
This makes about as much sense as some of Tesco's pricing (buy 1 for 73p, buy 2 for £1.60!)
According to the PGA European Tour website there are numerous categories that players are ranked in depending on performance. Our man Sam Hutsby is ranked in category 98 -
Top 10 from previous fully sanctioned European Tour event not otherwise exempt. In the small print it says that category 98 players are automatically in the field for the next event. SO Sam plays in Singapore even though he is shown as being 71 places below the "cut" line - ok, not quibbling about that - I want him to do well.
The bit that I don't get is that Micheal Jonzon, who won the event in Spain, is currently outside the cut-off by 21 places - in the category for previous winners on Tour.
So the anomaly here is that the guy finishing 1st last week can't play but the guy who's best finish is 8th can, even though he's lower in the rankings. There's got to be some logic there somewhere - but I can't find it.
