Eurodisney/North France

Hi All,

looking for some experience and knowledge if possible.....

We are thinking of taking in Eurodisney for the benefit of my older daughter in May(ish) next year.

Probably stay at Eurodisney for a couple of nights or so but also thinking of having a few days or a week holiday in France somewhere whilst we're there. Any ideas or recommendations on places to go or stay?

Will be driving so within reason we can go wherever as long as it is in range to get on a ferry or back to Calais for the train.

You'll love Eurodisney,took the kids there in April. I've stayed in Rouen for a few days whilst on a golfing holiday. Nice town steeped in history and a few courses not too far away.A few good eateries and pubs. Tuesday night is their busy night and Sundays are dead.HTH.

Went last year and stayed in the main disney hotel. While it was expensive, staying in a disney hotel gets you advance passes for the park, these allow you to get in earlier before the muggles do. The kids got to meet the characters in the hotel etc, they loved it, but i reckon i spanked at least £1500 for 3 nights all in...

Also stayed in new york, new york hotel for a work conference. that was nice too!

I have heard good reports on the log cabin type self catering they offer, buy your food/drinks in calais though, the park is very expensive for everything! even Mcdonalds is over €10 for a meal!

No idea on where to go inbetween, we went straight there and straight back.

As an FYI, the actual train part of the eurostar takes you right in to the park, so its a very realistic option to driving.. Its longer than you think from Calais to E/D!

North France is stunning. Shame your spoiling the trip by going to Eurodisney.
Take a few days extra and go to Normandy. The Bayeux tapastry is fascinating but don't get the headphones as it rushes you through too fast. Go up to Arromanche to see the remains of the Mulberry harbour and the war museum, it's a real eye opener for a 15 year old. Drive along to coast to La Fontaine to see the US cemetary and war memorial, it's not a long drive and don't have to stay long but it really brings home how many lives it cost to take the beach heads.
Take in some of the markets, your wife will love you forever for it. Try some Far Breton it's superb.
I could go on but you'll get bored.

I went last year stayed in on site hotel Newport beach club, it was very busy at breakfast but getting up early meant you could make most use of both parks and staying in a Disney hotel gave you the park hopper tickets to come and go as you pleased.
Agreed food and drink is ridiculously expensive. Can't help other than reccomend a stay in a Disney hotel as increased cost is offset by the benefits.

Don't know how old your daughter is but I took my 6 year old last year.

The biggest highlight (apart from It's a small world) was fine dining with the Disney Princesses.

Cost about £120 if I remember but you get them all coming to your table and they really do spend some time with your kids.

Much better than queuing up for a quick autograph for an hour.

Oh my god, you have just reminded me of how bad it is, i am not a violent person, but some of the people i could have removed my shoe and slowly battered them to death for being so pushy and rude. there is me with my 4yr old daughter waiting politely for an autograph with XYZ princess when they were "out and about", and you get some mothers and fathers physically pushing their kids in front of you. my daughter got knocked over at one point and i was livid. the staff quickly defused the situation by signing daughters book quickly, but be prepared for some of the rudest pushiest parents known to man.

And to be fair, the english were probably the best behaved. dont get me started on the septics and the french!

I had issues too some students thought they were going to gate crash my 2 year olds pics and expected me to take there pic on the're own camera! I think not.....
That said these small issues are far out weighed by the joyous smiles you get when they do get to see mickey etc, another benefit of a Disney hotel character photos in lobby at set times.
