Having had issues recently with 'THE FEAR' I decided to make time for some practice on Friday evening to try to sort it and my putting.
First up on the practice grounds I quickly realised that ibeas holding the grip too far up for half shots, basically giving the club more chance of presenting the hosel closer to the ball than need be. Hit around 250 without a single shank.
Onto the putting green and noticed that my back swing isn't bad, nice and fluid but my through swing had no release. Shoulders turned fine back but on contact with the ball, everything stopped, not quite stabby but not far off it. Practiced following through with my shoulders not aiming at anything in particular for a good half hour and took it out onto the course for our Saturday stroke comp.
31 putts, no shanks and 3 birdies, 3 double bogies resulting from pushed drives but happy to hit level handicap again this week.
I think I'll maybe try this practice lark more often.
