Having had issues recently with 'THE FEAR' I decided to make time for some practice on Friday evening to try to sort it and my putting.
First up on the practice grounds I quickly realised that ibeas holding the grip too far up for half shots, basically giving the club more chance of presenting the hosel closer to the ball than need be. Hit around 250 without a single shank.

Onto the putting green and noticed that my back swing isn't bad, nice and fluid but my through swing had no release. Shoulders turned fine back but on contact with the ball, everything stopped, not quite stabby but not far off it. Practiced following through with my shoulders not aiming at anything in particular for a good half hour and took it out onto the course for our Saturday stroke comp.
31 putts, no shanks and 3 birdies, 3 double bogies resulting from pushed drives but happy to hit level handicap again this week.

I think I'll maybe try this practice lark more often. :D

I'm sure most guys on here suss out their issues on the range too but I just never get time.
On the course with a card in hand is not the place to be trying to fix seemingly deep rooted issues. Anyone else sorted an issue that was dragging them down recently? It actually feels like a load lifted off my mind as crap as that sounds.

Next week, get my draw back with the driver.

On a public forum?
How many have typed a reply and then deleted it?
Cheers

Steve...

Ps, nicely sorted Brendy :)

I got rid of a lazy staff member in work, more relaxed out of work as a result, played 7 under my handicap in todays comp.

Might sack another this week :p

Eureka moments are fantastic. I absolutely hated my 5i notice everything was out the toe and hooky, in an effect to fix I thoughts I'd try setting up slightly out the heel, boom! All fixed, haven't used my 4i for mobths so took it to the course with the idea of changing my setup to match the 5i, boom! Bullet straight. Played some of my best golf this Saturday with 23 points on the back 9 with one blob and a couple of birdies missing an ace from 180 yards. Can't wait till next week!!!

27 putts today in our monthly medal and the third small cut of the season already, I wish I had taken the time to sort this ages ago. Long putts don't make me twitchy now, if anyone is having similar bother, I'd advise then to give it a go.

I tend to sort all of my issues on the course these days. I've spent enough time on the range in the past to know that a problem sorted on the range isn't necessarily sorted.

I've had enough lessons in the past to understand how my swing works and it might take me a couple of rounds to get right but I honestly believe what you learn on the course is worth the couple of 0.1s it costs to get back to where you want to be. I'll often use bounce games to work things through but if I have to do it in a comp then so be it.

Give what a go? I'd like to have 27 putts, that would get me down to 6 no probs. :o :D

Thought I'd got it cracked as I've been swinging pretty well but the short game is still cack. Been working really hard on the short pitches from in between distances for my wedges (not full shots) and those were working perfectly today so worth the time invested. Always good to see someone getting something back for putting the effort in so well done Brendy

Practicing putts exagerrating the follow through to coax the shoulders to follow through more. Seems to have sorted my putting with no pulls or pushes and better long range accuracy in three rounds. I also made a point on not aiming at anything in particular and just getting the ball smack bang from the sweets spot.
Cheers homer, I don't get much time for practice so when I do it is usually in specific failings in my game. Think my irons need some tlc as they werent great today. :D
