Equipment priorities

Theoretically, because I have savings and a decent income, I could just go out and spend a few hundred quid if I'd decided I needed/wanted something. However in reality I tend to string the process out for a few months and put a bit extra away each month.

Partly it's because I feel like I have to earn or deserve it, so a few months of discipline in saving make me feel better about the subsequent purchase. Not a big fan of the modern 'buy now pay later' approach to consumerism.

Also, I just like the process of looking, researching and anticipation of new shinies, so happy to make that last!

I do like to buy new togs regularly and love a bargain too. I was in Florida on hols two weeks ago. Stumbled across a bunch of RLX polo shirts reduced to $40 or about 25 quid. Filled my boots.

well I just got a bargain purchase through from ebay (it was the last of my spending spree from the weekend)

6 lambswool nike jumpers all brand new in all 6 colours, 2 coolmax sleeveless jumpers - £65 the lot, small cos I am a skinny bugger but means I can get the end of line bargains

just remembered I am also on the lookout for a baselayer, jeez does buying golf gear ever end?

I can't afford to splash the cash anymore so spend time looking for bargains and researching what suits my game. Although I did spend £500 on my irons 5 years ago! Getting last seasons or end of lines is the best I find as Im not one who has to have the latest gear. Balls I get from eBay, can usually pick up a dozen for less than £7 grade a. Everytime they are practically brand new. My rescue I bought from a friend, driver was £50, 3 wood was £35 new!

all my gear bar balls is 2nd hand, collectively I have spent about £550 for all my clubs/bag/trolley but when I look at what it would cost new then I have done bloody well :)

Is there a particular seller you got those from all or all over ebay? I'm size S as well, so might have a look if you've left any on there!

Never really thought about it to be honest. I will stock up on balls every Christmas (ask as presents) and they will generally last me most of the year (what with using balls I've found as well)

My next "big" purchase will probably be a new set of fitted irons. But that won't be for a couple of years at least as I have other things (non golf related) that I want first, like a trip to Seattle this time next year to watch my beloved American Football team play (plus, it's my favourite city in the world).

was a one off private sale, apparently someone going pro (that old chestnut) and they didnt fit.. result for me.

Theres plenty on there though just a case of shopping around

Balls
I always tend to buy budget golf balls, although I am starting to lose then than 1 a round so as from next year I may splash out a little more.

Clothing
I feel comfortable wearing Ashworth trousers so keep a look out for any offers, TK Maxx supply a lot of my polo's, I cannot justify £30+ for a shirt.

Shoes
On my Christmas list with a budget of about £80, currrently leaning towards the Puma Jigg, another pair will be purchased in February when I visit Florida

Clubs
Tempted by the G20, but hitting my current bats the best I have at the moment so not considering for another 12 months at least

I would rather spend money on golf days/trips, since joining this forum I have attended about 10 meets and have met some great people and played some great courses, most of which I would never of had the chance to play.

to be fair my bag is done unless i get picked as a winner for any random comps. ;)

on a serious note i tend to class myself as a pretty keen shopper, for exmaple when i made my mind up that i wasnted burner irons, i found the spec i liked, which were £560 at AG, then ebayed for 3 weeks solid until a deal come up, 3 rounds old, part of an insurance pay out with receipt to prove, deal done at £325 inc a 60* Ztp wedge which i later sold for £40.00. effectively my irons cost me £300 inc the shipping once i had sold the wedge, a nice saving of £260 or almost half price.

because of this attitude HID doesnt mind me buying golf gear, becuase she knows once i have made my mind up i generally hold out for the right deal. No area of my bag is scrimped on so to speak, but like fook am i spending £200 on FJ XPS which is a new model shoe, based on my last experience with new model footjoys, id rather have 4 pairs of £50'ers

likewise with balls, i tend to use ad333 in the winter and dx3's in the summer, but i always wait until i see a deal before buying. the last time i brought ad333 was buy one get one free which come out £9.95 a doz, and the last time i brought DX3's it was 3 doz for £30.00. at present i have 4 doz new dx3 and 4 doz new ad333 in stock,..,, but if im ever out and about and their on special ill grab another few doz of each as unfortunately prices are only rising due to increasing manufacturing costs, so it makes sense to stock up.
