Easy to knock it but fair play to them, better there than a snowdome or dry slope if you've got the snow. Assuming they've a nice smooth grassy surface under the snow given it looks thin and there's no piste-making gear by the look of it?
Hard work for a learner though trying to snowplough (pizza) in that, best for better skiers possibly who know how to ski off-piste.

Great stuff, as someone who started learning doing ski touring and cross country I would love to still consider that kind of skiing. It doesn't look to friendly for beginners. The other thing is that I could fly to the alps quicker than drive up there.

Certainly not beginner friendly as it's about a mile walk in from the car park at Glenridding...
Got to be fairly hardcore to do this sort of skiing but it can get busy up there.
I'm looking forward to my trip to the Gastein Valley next month.

We have had snow down to very low level around the Lakes last night and this together with snow higher up over the last few days means the season is back in full swing.
I was in Keswick yesterday, very quiet and the snow capped fells looked glorious. This is often the best time for anyone to visit the area before it gets rammed with tourists.

Plenty in the Cairngorms today, Carbridge had a fair bit and the snow gates at the slochd are closed at the moment

I've toured and x-country in the UK, but never downhilled. I think the effort/reward equation is a little skewed.
Off to Italy on Sunday and looks like there's some weather about in the next couple of days.
Always odd to be on Raise in summer and see the drag swinging in the breeze.

I believe they have an electric powered mini piste basher up there now. Powered off a diesel generator however so self defeating I guess but insisted upon the the Ntional Park Authority.
Enjoy Italy, can't beat spring conditions in my opinion.
