England RUGBY

Brave call to put Tuillagi on the wing. He has played there before for Tigers so not a new position and with Burrell and 36 playing well it is the only way to get all 3 on the pitch. I have concerns about his defense but I am fascinated to see how this works. He is quick and we know he is strong so this is one of those selections that is worth a try but could prove genius or madness

36 should be nowhere near the pitch. Burrell should be at 12 and Tuilagi at 13 (and 36 back in Gloucester!)

Actually quite surprised by a few of the selections, amazed to see Lawes on the bench (and Billy V assuming hes fit enough which he must be to be on the bench).

He just doesnt seem to have that little bit extra to make him a real star in the middle

The problem England have is they have a number of quality centres - Tuilagi, Barritt , Burrell , Twelvetrees, Eastmond and hasnt a rugby league player just moved over ( one of the brothers ?) . Lots to chose from.

Sam Burgess has signed for Bath. Not to sure where he's going to play yet. Possibility as a back rower.

I would have Burrell and tuilagi at 12 and 13. Probably put Foden on the wing as May hasn't convinced and I don't think Ashton should be in the team.

Very surprised to see Lawes on the bench and not starting. Not surprised to see Morgan keep his place, he was immense and billy V is a great impact sub.

Have to say i am surprised and disappointed at some of the changes Lancaster has made especially Freddie Burns being left out after a great performance last week.I wonder if there is a bit of I don't want to leave the coach's son out (Farrell) who has been found out in the last couple of games for Sarries. Also, I am not a fan of Twelvetrees and we should have Tuilagi in the centre with Burrell with May keeping his place as I think he does pose a big threat with his pace. Care in for Youngs is right as costly knock on when in great attacking position from Youngs cost us badly last week. The scrum and lkine out was great last week, just need to improve our handling in the loose.

I get the feeling that much of the team for this week was picked before last week's performance. With the availability of the Northampton and Saracens players there were always going to be changes.

The Tuilagi selection is interesting and one that I think needs to be tried once if only to discard it as a future option. Aside from those in the team, there are a number of talented centres about but nobody has really staked their claim on the wing. Manu played all of his under 20 England rugby on the wing and has played there for the Tigers on a number of occasions so he has experience. His threat on the wing could create space in the middle as teams track across to double team him in the tackle. I suspect that he will not be there for the whole match and will move into the middle with Burrell later on.

As for 36, he has good and bad games but England seem determined to have a second kicking option outside the fly half and that is where he steps in. I still agree that Burell and Tuilagi will be the combination going forward unless it is felt that they are too one dimensional as a pair. With the World Cup coming up though, these things need to be tried out now. Unfortunately, there are no easy fixtures on the England calendar to experiment with as all fixtures are six nations or against southern hemisphere teams. Better to try them out now when we are not expected to win and have a settled team come November when we are looking to build confidence heading in to a world cup year.

What we really need is some better cover for Care. Even as a Tigers fan I can admit that Ben Youngs has not been the same player since he came back from his last injuries and I would not even necessarily start him for the Tigers these days ahead of Mele.

England rugby 'arrogance' (if indeed there be any rather than just alleged by the RoW) is mightily surpassed by that of NZ. Oh how I laughed when the Yanks came from nowhere against NZ to win the Admiral Cup last year.

So near and yet so far! Too many errors by England and the ABs were clinical when they needed to be.

Still can't understand why Brown didn't support Tuilagi on his shoulder rather than run in-field and away from him when Tuilagi made that break just before half time. Would have been a simple off-load and certain try. I was screaming the house down!!

Tuilagi wasted out on the wing and an experiment that didnt work for me, especially with the errors twelvetrees kept coughing up in the 2nd half, hes really not the option at 12 and when Farrell was in the bin showed that he cant fill the "covering 10" role that seems to be in his credit column, his kicking going forward is so aimless and just gives the ball away far too often.

Some very positive signs going forward though and we were the better side for large parts of the game just not as clinical as NZ are who once again took full advantage of their opportunities, Ben Smith in particular was excellent

Another "if only" performance by England. Still encouraging looking towards world cup next year but we just have to be more clinical when chances arise, which the All Blacks were. As I said previously I don't rate 12trees and his shocking offload when he had no idea who the ball was going to, allowed the AB's to counter and score. This gave them the confidence and the momentum to put the hammer downn and take a big lead which England did well to claw back to a point, but that may have flattered us slightly.

If we can get that close, still experimenting with the side and positions to a degree. Get a side and positions settled and I really think England could be entering a dominant period of their rugby history and I can see them arguably being the northern hemisphere top dogs BUT also capable of going to Australia and South Africa and winning there

Nonsense, this dominant England team is no different to the England team who failed to win the 6 nations, they are a good side but miles away from being dominant

Just 15 mins of poor rugby lost them the game

Kicking from hand was very poor as was Twelvetree and Burrell in the middle

Would like to see Tuilagi and Eastmond in the middle

Have the potential to be the clear top team in the Northern Hemisphere

Now I sooooo want England to hammer the All Blacks :)

You appear to have a bit of a problem! Normally the other way around - or directed at Aussies!

Btw. At least get the name of the regatta right! It was The America's Cup!

I don't believe there is such a thing as arrogance in the All Blacks. It's something that's specifically recognised and measures taken to counter! Pride, Yes. But every Test is looked at as a potential career threatener by every player - unless they outplay their opposite number! Very much an SAS style approach! If every English Football player took that approach, they would be much more of a threat than they are imo!

Didn't actually see the game, except for the first few minutes, as 8:42 tee time, but it looked like another 'so nearly 10-0' from the bit I saw!

Thats a long old poke!

Theres one at the rec for you as well

Im tinkering with coming down actually if the fixture suits the travel, i'll keep you posted as despite our ding dongs over the years on here it would be good to have a pint and blether and obviously watch the mighty Warriors take another scalp ;)

I moved away from Gods little acre some time ago and now live near the "Warriors' Worcester Warriors area that is, but thats another story.

Val, differing opinions on current affairs are not important in life. Life's to short to hold grudges on these things, you're always welcome for a meet up and a pint (Also in the Worcester Area) ;)
