who? who? WHO? Players coming on who we've never heard of, so aren't starting games in the Premiership. Once this current bunch on muppets are gone, we'll be left with no team at all. The top two teams in the nations Cup were Portugal and Holland. Why? Because they've still got, mainly, home grown players playing in their top league. In five years time, or less, England FC will be no more.

I think there are only 2 from the Squad yesterday that don’t play in the Premiership, Sancho and Butland.
The remainder are all regular starters barring injuries etc (Delph is debatable)
I think you’re off your meds again!

Not sure I agree. Yes the likes of Holland, Spain and Germany have had a good youth system in place for a while but don't forget we've done well in the age groups up to and including U21 so the players are there. What I do think you have right is the fact the PL sides need to be bringing these players on more and not farming them out on loan. That said I think we have a good squad and I am sure one or two players will push through like Declan Rice has in the years to come and players like Sessignon once he goes to a top PL side will get game time and develop

No England team for over 50 years has won a tournament of any importance.
This bunch of 'muppets' have got to the semifinals of two within a year as many as all the other England teams put together since '66.
Coming through with seriously good talent there are the likes of Alexander Arnold, Gomes, Hudson Odoi, Sancho, Winks, Foden, Wan Bissaka, England have recently won tournaments at virtually every age group level, yes they will need game time but unless your stuck in a 1950's time warp English football has rarely looked more promising.

Just to add some stats because it’s easily checked...

Of the fourteen players who players for Portugal yesterday, four play in Portugal.

Slightly better for Netherlands with that number being seven if you included De Ligt (going) and de Jong (going).

Crazyface in “sensational yet lacking knowledge post” shock. :)

Though to be (a tiny bit) fair to CF, his comment was about the number of English players, of 'England standard' in the Premier League. That's the 'problem', if there really is one, that needs addressing imo.

Some pretty 'non-traditional' English names there!

In truth I think the young players who are coming through are mainly attackers, I'm not seeing many prospects in midfielder, defence, or in goal unfortunately. There's Foden maybe, obviously TAA and Gomez at the back, but even that's going to leave us with half a decent team rather than a whole one.

Problem the English National Side have is that the clubs have so much money that they really can't justify playing a youngster for any length of time. So it will inevitably be tough for them to develop young players into well rounded players at age 22 / 23.

The Dutch or Portuguese leagues don't have the same kind of cash and so will inevitably play more of their youth players and these players will have the chance to develop against senior professionals every week.

We are already seeing the English clubs loan out their youngsters to overseas leagues in order to try and get them game time against better opposition.

It would not surprise me if this current England side have peaked, and while they might improve over the next 3 years - the other teams will improve at a greater pace with 22 year olds turning up at the next WC with much more in the way of first team and European football experience.

did that to define what I was going to post about.

I stand by what I said. And that list of young players...who??????? And as for "looking promising" goodness me...

😂😂😂

Blimey you really don’t have a clue

Have you not seen the level of young English players playing in the Prem and even more so breaking through in top teams ?

That’s on top of the players in the various youth levels behind that are making their mark at their own level

I would do some research first unless you have already done some and want to provide what gave you the foundation for your post ?

Well if you don't know who they are it rather suggests that you don't follow a lot of football I named seven players, five of whom have made appearances in the champions league this season including two in the final and one on the bench for the final another has played in the Europa cup and the fnal player has been a regular premier league player for a season and a half and whose team have just turned down a bid of £40M from Manchester Utd, If you don't think that represents promise I don't know what you think does. They are all very young.

Honestly mate, we have a young team all playing pretty well and gaining experience under a decent (imo) manager! The country got behind them in the World Cup and the Nations Cup. I was away last week but understand 8 English players were rested in the 1st game as they'd been involved in the 2 European finals - so they must be pretty good!
It does rather show your lack of football knowledge and understanding of the need for England to build a team that will be good for the next 10 years of so with a game plan that they can ALL slot into when picked
