Energy foods for during the round

A bottle of whatever drink I pick up - not coke....

and ...........................

Nowt else.
Often don't finish the drink.....

Ideal foods for during the round include
Sandwiches with brown bread...a filling of marmite or peanut butter are ideal..Half of this should be eaten on around the 5th hole..
Have a cereal bar and or piece of fruit on the 8th hole
A handful of mixed nuts and dried fruit on around the 11th
The other half of the sandwich on the 14th/15th

For amateurs is this really necessary? A bit OTT.

Yep, OTT for anyone.

A banana and some water.

If I ate all that I wouldn't have room for my bbq bacon & cheese double burger with onion rings and fries after.

After years of watching Bear Grylls if I get peckish I usually just forage for a handful of rabbit droppings and if I look hard enough in the gorse I can pick up a spider or two for a protein hit.

Me neither. And the pair of us will take any of you on who are stuffed with high energy snacks and energy drinks in a four ball game and beat you hollow.

That depends, can I have my full handicap? You also come across as sounding incredibly arrogant, not sure if that was what you intended?

Also, having a young professional golfer join our community, only to be ridiculed by the older chaps because they don't share the same opinion, is pretty disgraceful.

No wonder this place has a reputation.

Perhaps some of older guys know a bit more about it than the younger guy who, although a welcome addition, does tend to 'lecture' a bit.

Maybe DfT, maybe. I've not really read anything from the younger folk that could be considered 'lecturing'.

The only thing that I consider to be 'lecturing' if from the older generation. In that they're instantly dismissing any opinion that is in contradiction of their own. Almost to the point of confusing their own opinion with fact.

Just an observation.

The fact is, despite popular opinion, human beings can often go without eating for a period of 4 hours.snacking during golf is not necessary.

Incredibly arrogant and disgraceful? Get off your high horse.

I learned all I needed to know about golf sports nutrition in the early 1990's when it became standard training for all England amateur elite teams.
Not exactly rocket science and hardly the latest trend.

nothing normally for me, only because I'm not that organised. I love a halfway hut where I can have a greasy sausage roll and a cup of tea. Failing that I have been known to forage. Playing in September is good, there is something quite satisfying about picking & eating blackberries.

Don't go for the ones below waist height though :o
