After chopping it about all spring and summer i seem to have come into some end of season form,at Dundonald last week i had 36pts in the morning and 35 pts in the afternoon,i played my own track this morning in a wee bit of drizzle and shot 77 but i cant seem to find a reason for the sudden find of form.

In general today i hit the ball decent but my short game and putting was really good something thats been missing this season.Anyway 3 possibly 4 comps left to try to get back to single figures before the winter league and my own squads eclectic starts.

Has anyone else found some end of season form after a bad season and any reason why?.

Im the complete opposite, started season in great form and was promptly cut from 10.3 to 8.7 by mid May, then went to Florida and seem to have forgot how to play golf since then.

Went from start of June until first week in September without a cut and managed to work my way back up to 9.8, got cut .4 for a 39 point round that came from nowhere but have since played 4 rounds and got my .4 back again.

So no end of season form here just a lot of frustration(and .1s back) :D

Oops much change handicap in my sig :o

smange,

What is it about Florida???

I went there for 2 weeks hols in August and since I got home I cannot hit a 5 bar gate from 10 foot....LOL

Cannot get my game back :D

Think yourself lucky you went in August!! :p

I havent been able to play proper golf since start of June, getting a bit depressing now

Note to Self: Dont go to Florida on holiday next year, its a blight on your golf :D

I had a bit of a mad spell at the start of the year and lost about 7 shots in 2 1/2 months, then it has steadied out and I am holding up against 12-13. BUT the last few weeks have seen an improvent so much so that I had 32 points (including 6 single points and 2 blobs) on sunday. I know it is just my short game holding me back a little and I had a new putter in the back.

My season has been all about some decent ball striking punctuated by stupid errors and woeful short game. At times I've flattered to deceive and come close to winning. Others have been utter dross and I've felt like giving up. Either way it's always been interesting. I've got members guest day on Saturday and a medal the day after and then the season is more or less over. We'll have monthly stablefords/medals throughout the year but all the big prizes will have gone. Whats the betting that'll be the time I hit form

Good to see the good form going strong Steve. Long may it continue.

I have not had much joy in the handicap front this year. Up .2 with 12 .1s and a cut of .9 with one buffer. Although I am scoring more s'ford points so i feel I am playing better just not scoring ...yet.

i was having a poor season, and handicap was heading towards 13. Then in August shot two gross 75's and a 76 in successive comps and got cut to 9.

I did change my grip from overlapping to interlocking. I was also swinging like a puppet on a string ,with everything moving in different directions. Got my posture sorted out and it seemed to be working, until last Saturday when my back went into spasm, and had to NR.

Have a horrible feeling improved swing may be causing back problems :( :(

I was ready to call it a day, until I had a lesson on Sunday. Sorted a few things out and I’m keen to have a crack at the last few opens of the season;

Golspie
Tain
Moray old
Brora

Plus a couple of medals as well, so I’ll either be 9.4 by the end of the season or might even get a cut.

Yip Steve,

Your games that good your pooping yourself to come to Gourock on Sunday in case you lose £3!!!!

Its easy to talk a good game on a computer!!!

Blah blah blah! ;)

Started off the year, still fighting a terrible duck hook. Some new bats later, and hours practicing, started to hit hit some form (until Ascot!). Then I struggled with a push fade, particularly off the tee. I just wasn't getting any release with my wrists and was coming inside to out (my normal swing path) with a slight cutting action across the ball, and an open face. Really been spending some time in the garden with the net, just trying to ingrain the wrist action. (Oh err!). Seemed to be paying off after last weeks game. But only playing 3 times in last 8 weeks doesn't help. And now another two week break before the golf day I've organised! Arhhh!

In summary.
Crap. Going left.
A whole load of PB's over a couple of months.
Crap. Going right.
Now trying to correct it. With some success.

As for the putting. 7 single putts last week. So my putting average is getting much better than it was at the start of the year.

Sorry to bore you all.

Haha or win £3 and not get paid :D :D, am nightshift all weekend or would have been there to top my bank balance up ;)

Please do not throw mud in my direction sir!

I do believe I was one of the very few who actually paid up the £2 that you fluked! Err sorry won at Dundonald.

Shame on those who slinked off without paying! I wouldn't dream of naming them but one was of Irish descent! And another plays at Gourock Golf Club and has arranged a game on Sunday although going by his previous efforts I'd imagine it'll all fall through with no updates or explanation!!! :D ;) ;)

So you did mate, our Irish friend has been in contact and the cheques in the post :o.

And by the way it was a magnificent victory where i took the back 9 apart, just a stupid double bogey on 17 a par would have been round in 1 under, but hey i'm not boasting :D

Anyway mate enjoy Gourock pity i can't make it and see if your driver lasts 18 this time :o, stick to your 3 wood you were hitting it great.

Driver has been re-born, amazing what you can achieve with an elastoplast!!

Re-shafted it last night, re-gripped her this morning, if it wasn't downpours of biblical proportions just now I'd be tempted to give her a test drive!
