Embedded ball query

Playing a bounce game this morning and after my drive at one hole I found my ball to be embedded in the semi. I took relief I was entitled to through the local rule. However dropping my ball, it rolled right back into it's rather substantial pitch mark. Was I entitled to re-drop?

just to embelish a little - you must redrop; you would be penalised if you didn't
