I have been using a trolley now for the best part of 8 years and am fully up for all the benefits that it gives me. Less tired and hot and bothered in the warm weather etc.

However at least once a year we have a trolley ban if it's been particularly wet and to let the course recover, which means back to the carry bag and now here's the thing.

I always feel that when carrying I'm getting closer to the true spirit of the game. Quite often when trolleys are allowed again I'll keep carrying for months as luckily I don't have a problem in actually being physically able to do this.

A bit daft you say? Or do some feel the same about this as I do?

If you're looking for the "True Spirit" then load up a Lackie with a couple of dozen bits of wood, find some Gutties and wear silly trousers and a jacket...

Carry if you want, trolley if you want.
There's no right or wrong.

Couldn't agree more and certainly not suggesting one is right and the other wrong.

It's really some odd feeling of empathy with all those people from way back when carrying that *I* get. Strikes me as a bit daft really...and yet...

I prefer to use a leccy trolly. If the course is that wet that they are banned I'm not sure I want to be out playing and it should be closed anyway. I will carry in the summer as its easier to leave a carry bag in my locker with some shoes to play/practice
