Must admit I hadn't come across this before and still getting my head around it.
I've gone from an 8.5* driver to a 10.5* 1 degree open driver and its a joy to hit. I was worried about ballooning with the extra loft and without my 'Low Launch graffalloy red shaft' but the flights are better launch, more air time and more distance:thup:.........why?
Apparently a 10.5* driver with 1 degree open is effectively a 9.5* driver
Conversely the 10.5* driver you bought and adjusted the face to 1 or 2 degrees closed because of your slice, is now a high ballooning 12.5* driver
....or it might be, dependent upon shaft etc but the fact is it's now effectively a higher loft even though you CLOSED the face.
So basically if that new driver has a closed or open faced option, or if you have already adjusted the face closed and wondering why its higher and weaker now, then maybe its a good idea to get to a launch monitor and see whats right for you.
This all might be old stuff for you but it's new to me and thought it might be useful to some
