Re: David Miliband
Do I need to beat you over the head with a Sand Wedge to get the message across?
It's a starting position!
From there ALL of them would have to prove to me that they are an MP solely for the purpose of serving the electorate. And, of course, they'd have to be Independent as the Party Machine/Whip process would immediately corrupt that noble aim. That doesn't mean they are all 'rapscallions, scoundrels and rogues', but the system certainly allows plenty to be so or even encourages it! If not, considering them 'self-serving' seems appropriate imo!
Many years ago - back home - I shared a flat with an MP - who later became PM! On the way back from the Pub, he instigated the purloining of a sign from the grounds of Parliament (no overt Security in those days) that stated 'Hump 40 Yards', so 'Rogue' seems appropriate!
Of course, The Chamber is only the skin of Parliament. As a PR view it's not a good image! 95% or more of the work that an MP does is outside that arena yet it's all that the general public really sees - but the 'Fourth Estate' has a lot to do with that!
As a test, can you name those that have apologised for voting along Party '3-liner'? Especially when the legislation has turned out to be unworkable/wrong which is quite frequently the case in such instances.
I bet that you don't think that all MPs are rapscallions, scoundrels and rogues. Not all of them...some of them, maybe most of them - but not all of them. Though I could easily be wrong in which case you take my £2 (I never bet more than that - if you don't have a lot to spare you don't chuck it around)
