eBay question.

Think I may have a dispute headed my way.

After upgrading my modem router I decided to stick my old one on the bay. It was all working fine when sent out to the buyer.

He's contacted me today saying the WiFi keeps dropping out, even if he's sat next to it.

I've suggested he tries to find a better WiFi channel, but I don't wish to try and remotely trouble shoot this.

I sold the item as no refunds but assume he can take this into dispute.

Any advice as to what I can expect and how to deal with this as I never had an item queried before.

Good chance you'll have to give a refund.
I've stopped selling on eBay,more hassle than it's worth.

If you have a good rating, 100 percent, then is it worth arguing over a second hand modem that was presumably sold for just a few quid. Suck it up, take the hit, protect your rating.

I suspect the buyer is a numpty.
Can I ask him to post it back to check out he's not fooked it ?

Take it back and relist it, with any luck you'll get more second time round. Ebay always sides with the buyer.

Second hand electrical items are a minefield on eBay these days paying through PayPal gives 6 months return time. We sold a fully working car stereo and had it return 5 months later having been taken out of the car without the correct removal tool which was supplied so casing was completely ruined despite many emails and pictures ebay sided with the buyer and issued a full refund freezing PayPal account until money was put into account to cover cost.
Your best bet would be to get the item back and offer refund imo,

Yes,they'll not be able to withdraw the refund until you ok it.

What you say makes sense. It will make the buyer double check before returning it and if they do return it and it is actually okay then you can re-sell it and only be down on the postage. Again, with this method you keep your rating.

This would be my best advice. Tell him to return it to you and you will refund him for both the postage and the item. I would never sell or buy anything electrical from Ebay, unless it was from one the real traders that run their business through it.

Good advice, I recently came back from a break and when putting the various mains sockets switches on, started to smell burning, took me a wee while to find source but it was a micro USB cable with plastic melting off around the connector, almost certainly an ebay purchase, shudder to think of the consequences if I'd gone straight out. Think all mobile chargers etc are sus (according to a fireman I know) and a common source of domestic fires but you can help yourself by buying branded ones and switching them off when not in use or you're out.
