Playing a fourball round East and West courses of East Sussex National next weekend. Any one played there recently? Played ten years ago and loved it, just wondered if it had changed at all?

nothing has changed course wise as far as im aware, the east is imo the weaker of the two courses ,i find the west a more challenging track ,its tighter and longer than the east but its the east that is the championship course.
both courses are good though.
enjoy your weekend ,and let us know how you fared.

Played there in November, and heading back in 2 weeks as really impressed me. Thought both courses were very good challenges

Played the East 2 weeks ago and the condition was very good for the time of year. You will enjoy I'm sure.

play off the blue tees
greens still a bit uneven, but they should improve next weekend as its our ladder final
very warm there today, so if weather holds it should be pretty good
enjoy

Personally I prefer the East. Always seem to play better around there, so maybe that's why!
There are a few holes on the West that I can never score on, no matter how well I have been playing the previous ones.
Par 5 12th being the 1st of them. I have never finished that hole with the same ball. A bit of respite at the 13th (par 3) but then comes one of the hardest par 4's you'll play anywhere.
Another breather at 15 & 16 but then one of my least favourite holes anywhere. Another par 5 that I don't think I've ever scored a point on.
Follow that up with either a slice or a pulled drive on 18 and another big fat duck egg can go down on the card.
If I come off that back 9 with more than 10 points I feel that I've had a result.
For me to stand any chance of winning anything around there I've got to score at least 26 points on the front 9 to give me the buffer I need to cope with what's to come.
And that's not likely to happen

Cheers guys, I won last ever society with the Twentys GC all those years back on the West I think! Really looking forward to Friday now, hope the weather holds! Will report back

.
you arent wrong with those par 5`s Rob they are tough as is the 18th tee shot. but i like the challenge of them .
I find the greens more difficult to read on the East compared to the West ,more subtle borrows i think.

Played the West course a while back

Absolutely loved it. Probably my favourite course I played during time in England. Lewes the town nearby is a nice place so I'd recommend taking a run into there. Played the course there as well and enjoyed it too

Last time I played at East Sussex it was with Rick G and I birdied the last which meant we won our match. Such a good day.

I will think of him fondly again this Wednesday when I play St Georges Hill in the opening fixture for a golf society that he and I were both members of...
