Seems a lifetime ago that Dunlop Maxfli Australian blades were considered one of the best clubs on the market. They do certainly suffer from an image problem these days and frankly the Sports Direct connection will never help that

I am almost completely decked out in Dunlop clothing when I play, no problem with any of it, why pay £50 for a polo shirt with a Nike badge when you can one of virtually equal quality for a fiver? As for the clubs, not for me at the moment as I like my TMs, and my next set when my ability improves will be a set of high end irons. If in the meantime Dunlop brought out a set aimed at the better player I would have no problems trying them out.

Think they're quite smart looking and seems they are staring to get serious about golf again.
As for Dunlop clothing have to say its some of the best clothing I have and the quality and way it wears is superior to a lot of th eNike gear I have.

I'm of an age that can remember when Dunlop was one of the top brands, the Dunlop 65 ball was the Pro v1 of its day. And their clubs were excellent also.
Bit like Lynx who were also top end.
I hope they do turn things around as the Dunlop brand is synonymous with golf.

Wow, that's a beefy price for Dunlop. Might be great sticks, but they're slugging it out with the big boys at those prices.

I have 3 pairs of trousers and v happy with them.
I was looking at for sale section and was considering R11 rescue but then realised that I simply love my Dunlop hybrid.
Hit it well: v. straight and actually further than my driver ! And that for £12 new is my friends just pure gold imo!

My mates a PGA pro,his irons are Dunlop Tad Moore blades.
Pretty sure he got these around 2003-2004,and they are a fantastic club.The fact that they are still in his bag after all this time,is testament to how good they are.
I think most of us suffer with brand snobbery,i was in sports direct recently getting my daughter some running shoes.I had a quick look around the golf section,and if i'm honest i was gobsmacked at just how good the quality of the Dunlop Westwood clothing range was,and it would certainly warrant a price tag 4 times higher had it had a different label on.
Sad really that i wouldn't consider wearing it because it was Dunlop,yet it was good looking,well tailored,and very very good value.

Thats one way to look at it, another is that you are picking up brand new clubs for £280, should you ever wish to sell them and get £40 after 3 years, that is a £240 depreciation.
Buy a set of Titleist AP2 irons (which are premium clubs) for £599 4-pw) after 3 years will be worth £200 max so a loss of £400.
It all depends on your view, if either set does what you want then why should depreciation come into it anyway, why change away from them?

Dunlop Clothes - Thats a yes for me , cant really go wrong with them
Dunlop Shoes - Ive had several of their shoes, if your on a very right budget maybe, they lasted me about 6 months playing 1/2 times a week, Id have to say no to them
Dunlop Clubs - For a starter yes they are fine i had myself the full dunlop range for about 6 months then soon started to buy more well known brands, The new driver is one of the better clubs they have but still comes up short against the other brands, well for me anyway

I cannot help but feel that Dunlop may have got the price point of these irons wrong. They are new to the market and a name now more associated with bargain prices than quality golf gear. As such, I would have thought that their irons would need to be rock bottom price to get any sort of market share. At £280 they are competing directly with Benross and some MD ranges so they will be hard pressed to convince people to buy ahead of them. Charge £199.00 and more people may be willing to have a punt.
I also hope that they are going to sell these clubs in recognised golf shops and not in Sports Direct. Nobody is going to go into Sports Direct and spend £280 on anything based simply on the usual prices they charge. They will be immediately seen as cheap tat by many if they are only seen in SD stores. Put them in AG and DG and people can at least try them and give them a chance.
