Hi there... i am interested in the history of Dunlop balls.... generally the Dunlop Orange Spot and Dunlop Junior are often credited as their first balls..... i have a 1909 ad mentioning these balls.... the exact date of release is a bit more vague... i've heard it said there were earlier Dunlop balls c1907/8 but they weren't any good and were not made for long... there is also a stud junior and a dounut type Dunlop 31.... not sure of their year of release.... likely 1911-13..
anyone have any knowledge on this area? i guess there must be online libraries these days, magazine ads are the best way to be sure...

Hi Kevin, welcome to the forum, took a while for your first post! ;)
But being interested in vintage golf myself I'm pleased to see it.

From what I can find after a quick scan of the web, the generally accepted date for Dunlop's entry into the ball market is 1910, produced at their Birmingham factory.

The link below is for an interesting newsreel of production:

Below is a good site which suggests an earlier date, it wouldn't be yours would it? If so then you'll more than likely know far more on the subject than anyone here!
