I'm now looking to organise 2022's golf week, and have taken a liking to the courses around Dumfries,

Can anyone give any insight on the following courses please,

Dumfries and Galloway GC
Dumfries and County GC
Powfoot GC
Lockerbie GC
Lochmaben GC

Many thanks

Not played the Galloway but County is decent apart from the 1st where you are only allowed to hit an iron and the greens can be quick.

Powfoot is a decent links, Lockerbie not keen on as too many holes run beside each other. Thornhill is better than Lockerbie but I've not played it for a few years.

Not played Lochmaben.

Stand out course in the area area is Southerness, a proper beast. Don't be put off by the fact it is par 69, it is a big boys golf course. Its hosting the Scottish Amateur Strokeplay this year.

Southernerness easily the best. Powfoot very good with 2 different 9’s. Both Dumfries courses are fine. Dumfries is best place to stay. Lochmaben is the best of the rest. Would consider Carlisle and obviously Silloth Where Saving Par is your expert

You left out Stranraer, good Braid course with stunning views over Loch Ryan.
D&GGC and Stranraer a quite a good [car] drive from the other ones you listed

Just checked 60-70 very beautiful miles

God awful road though, quicker to go south from Dumfries and head to Silloth on Solway.

Another idea could be... Seascale, Silloth, Powfoot, Southernness then a Dumfries course ? Now that would be a superb few days of golfing!
