Dropped Ball

Of course take a provisional when in doubt, but if you and Neilds can't see the scenerio that sometimes happens then fair enough, you and him can walk all the way back to the tee if you want.
I know I play a lot of golf, but I reckon it happens to me about half a dozen times a year when I can't find what I thought was an alright drive, especially on blind drives or cutting off dog-legs

Yes “sometimes” -on a 1 in 100 maybe wider than that chance that it happens then it not something that’s happening regularly enough to have a rule put in place during comps

We have been using this rule E-5 in our society events for the last 4 years. I personally think that it should be brought into all forms of competitions.
The amount of time it potentially saves, especially nowadays when everyone moans about not being able to get round in sub 3 hours ;)

Imagine the scenario, 4-ball all hit their drives, and one of them can’t find his ball, all look for 3 minutes, now he must walk 200+ yards back to the tee, just as the behind 4-ball walk onto the tee. This causes an unnecessary bunching up of the course, when an already 2 shot penalty is punishing enough.

The sensible thing is for a player to take a provisional ball, however there are far too many optimists who play golf.

I agree

Seems a bit of a strange question from someone who was going to take over the running of their old handicap committee. Surely someone who thinks that the committee were so bad should understand a fairly basic rule?
Ok I'm sick to death of smart Alecs popping in and having a go at people just for asking a simple question then trying to be clever and refering back to previous posts. Just who do you think you are? Get a life! I was just asking a question that I was unsure of. I asked in civil way, in the correct category on a forum I respect, and got an civil answer from people who I trust to give the correct answer. Just why do you think you have the right to have a pop? Seasoned Pro on tour don't know all the rules and frequently ask for adice. Do you ring them up and have a pop at them?

Maybe I was reacting more to some of your previous posts where you make out that you know better than the committee and could do a much better job than they could. When you couldn’t get your own way, you left the club and joined another.
