For the past year since getting back into golf I've been having trouble with my driving, mainly slicing. About a month ago I changed it slightly and started hitting it nice and straight, sometimes even hooking the ball which is a first for me. What I changed, apart from correcting my swing path from out to in, was closing the clubface slightly just before impact. It was going really well but then one day it stopped working. Yesterday at the driving range I tried something that I use to do when I was teenager. I get my hands a lot further forward in my stance, roughly having my grip inline with my left knee. This means the shaft is angled back in my stance, like I was using a wedge, but it works for me. I'm happy with this for now, but I would really like to know why this works and the normal way doesn't. Any advice?
