how far do you stand from the ball?
i was experimenting the other night and worked out my straightest flight came when my toes are the same distance from the ball as the shaft length (head to start of the grip), pretty handy cos i can measure this now and make sure i'm consistent as i have been standing too far away i think which was causing me to reach and slice.

secondly - ball flight. found mine was a bit too high (the R7 limited does give a high flight with a 10.5 loft) so i've moved the ball back inside my left heel which seems to have improved the trajectory.

and finally.... any suggestions to improve flexibility? spent a lot of time trying to get a full chest turn going which i find hard!

I stand far enough away so that I don't get jammed up inside or feel the need to lift up and 'get out of the way'.
I used to stand waaaaay too close and had a hard time getting my hands round my right hip. Good posture helps... get your spine to 40° at address.

Here's Zach Johnsons swing

I love his ball position in this clip but his hands look just a little low for me, thus making the ball look even further away. You might notice at impact that his hands are a lot higher (like 4 inches higher!)

hope this helps :)

I had the same problem of standing too far away from the ball and not always the same distance. Whichever club i use now i have built a distance check into my routine and it helps immensly. Basically i stand bolt upright and hold the club out in front with my normal grip in a fairly relaxed state. Then bend forward from the hips (keeping my spine straight)till the clubhead touches the floor. That is exactly how far you should be away from the ball. Then spread your feet and flex your knees and away you go. This works for all the clubs except for my putter which i do differently.
I also find keeping my chin up slightly helps with the shoulder turn.

Good routine Fore :)[thumb up]
When you do this you need to ensure that your arms hang down freely a few inches from your crotch, you haven't 'reached out' to the ball and the shaft pretty much points at your belt buckle or just above.

I'd be careful raising your chin as it adds angle to your spine which should be straight. When anyone mentions chin up people always overdo it. Your head should be 'natural' and you should be looking out of the front of your eyes at the ball, not down your nose :)

the key is not to have your chin too low/bent forward and get it stuck on your chest :)
