driver alternatives

Just gone to a Callaway 3Deep 13 degree, probabl;y given up 10-15 yards of carry but can deal with that, its also low spin so in summer should get as much if not more roll out

Pretty much the same for me except mine is 14.5deg.

I sometimes use a three wood off the tee if I want to be a bit more cautious as to where my ball lands, it's not always about the distance lost for me more about putting myself in the best position for the next shot.

Some folks are wedded to their drivers and never give a thought to how best to play a hole, I once played a par 4 with a 7 iron and was surprised I didn't lose too many shots.

If it feels right just do it.

i have a 13.5 degree mizuno 3 wood. not sure how much it gives up. it sits open, I find it easy to slice/fade it. that's the main reason its staying in the bag.

I was looking at the new x2 hot deep from Callaway, 12.5 degrees and 43.5" long, seems like a good alternative off the tee, bonus time at the end of the month so may give one a try at the range against the driver and see what the difference is.Wouldn't hit it off the deck as my 3 wood is good at that shot and not fond of deep faced 3 woods off the deck anyway.

I have the RBZ Stage 2 TS (13*) that I can take down to 11.5*. I have tried it and it goes a long long way. Doesn't get the height and carry of my driver, but when it lands it justs keeps running.

I tried out the stage 2 ts before and did not care for it, too low profile for use soley off the tee.May try out some older 13 degree 3 woods instead of splashing the cash on a new one first.

Many days I don't even pull the driver out of the bag. I usually start out hitting a 20' ping rescue club. If I am hitting that well, often there is no need to change! It carries about 180-190 yards. I find it rolls a lot further on the fairway than it does in the rough or through the trees! For me, hitting the driver and 3 wood are similarly tricky. The joy of the rescue club is it's similarity to the swing for an iron allowing slightly more consistency.

I've got one of these

Have not used it for a while but I've no idea what the loft is, although I was told that it was a 'strong' 3 wood.

Does anyone here use a strong 3 wood instead of a driver? Im thinking 13 degrees.
if so how much yards do you give up.

Get a Ping K15 Driver and be done with it..... Best thing iv done..... Got rid of my 910 because i just had no kind of consistency at all with it......Im enjoying hitting this thing.....

I have an X2 Hot 2 Deep for sale if you're interested.

Rather than a driver alternative, if you just want it for off the tee then something like an RBZ Stage 2 HL driver (13*). Or maybe one of the HL drivers from any of the big names. They will have adjustable lofts so you can always tweek them down a bit if you wanted to at a later date. The TM will go down to 11.5*, so a normal driver loft, not sure about the others but well worth looking at.

Check out Ebay, there are some of the TM HL drivers going for around £100.

After much perseverance I have also ditched the driver. When it went well it was fab but just couldn't keep it together. I have the RBZ stage 2 set to 13* . I reckon I have lost 30 yards over my driver but my fairways hit are going the right way. I have a burner recovery in the bag which is 19 degrees so my next purchase is going to be either a 5 wood or another recovery about 15/16*.
