Driver / 3 wood

Thanks guys, I've just been offered £80 for it from a friend so its as good as gone.
I don't have the stress and he has a near new club for cheap.
I shall spend it on a new bag instead

£80 for a driver like that is very cheap, I would be holding on to it if I were you. Don't be so Hasty.

Those who talk about taking an inch off the driver, what happens if that isn't the problem, and therefore doesn't solve it? You're then left with a modified driver that may not re-sell surely?

Agreed. Either stick with the 3w or have a lesson with driver. £80 is cheap tho for that driver.

I've had this issue for years
Anyone who's played with me will know I can keep up with many people's drives with a 4 wood
Put a driver in my hand and it's pot luck as to whether it will go left, right or straight down the middle with a hint of draw.
Yesterday was a perfect example.
First drive was a huge slice, 2nd a bit of a push, 3rd miles down the middle with draw, 4th the push again, 6th a pull and finally another creamed down the middle.

If I have the room I'll use the driver as I know if I get it right I'll go much further than the 4 wood
But if I really need to be accurate I'll use the fairway.

The 10th at Blackmoor (H4H last year) paying with Murph, TheRod and Alex1975 - they took Drivers, I took a 4 wood. Middle of the fairway and possible further than them too....

Bloomin' Drivers do my head in....

I have a guy buying the driver tonight and I've treated myself to a clicgear bag instead of it.
It's a shame I can't hit it but I suppose at least I have the 3wood to get me off the tee.
Maybe in a year or two I could get another but I was purely keeping it so it made a full G20 set which is just silly of me.

As much as I would love to take a inch off and see it it works I'm then left with a driver that is not worth much if I still fail.

The club is perfect, it's the owner that's rubbish.

I'm a beginner and now use my 3 wood on the advice of my pro. Wouldn't sell my driver though as I'm sure I'll get back to using it sometime.

Imurg is obviously one of the better players on the Forum & doesn't hit the driver aswell as his other clubs (probably still better than most of us) so I wouldn't be too worried about hitting 3w.

As I've said on another thread, use whatever you can that gets you as far down the fairway most of the time. With ending up on the fairway being the important part. And if that's a 4 hybrid then use a 4 hybrid, don't feel you have to use a driver or even a wood just because other people are.

Then with a few lessons and practice you will gain more confidence in your woods and you can then bring them into play. There's far to much emphasis on distance, but if you are a high handicapper you need control, then you can increase the distance later. I've seen quite a few old duffers hitting it 160 yards dead straight every shot going round in less that some newbee or weekend hacker who tries to smash every drive with a big dog.

Hi I own a ping g20 3 wood and g20 driver and I can't hit my driver at all and it always results in a huge slice.
I can however hit my 3 wood dead straight and can reach 230yds or more on the range.

My query is when I play against friends they use drivers and sometimes they outhit me and sometimes not and they comment how far I can drive a 3 wood.
I'm toying with selling my driver and not replacing it as I just can't use them.

Should I have lessons and learn how to hit one or just carry on how I am.
Myself and my friends are novices and we just play for FUN.

Do I stand to gain much by hitting a driver?

Are you Tiger Woods? he cannot hit driver consistantly either
