Drills? Anybody practice a wee drill to get a swing feeling?

My pro showed me an old one the other day and I love it. Made me realise a lot about my swing from pitching to driver and I think I'll practice it to the grave to help me keep the feeling.

Very simple. Hit the ball with only your left hand on the club. If you can do it you'll find you'll chip and pitch better and keep your hand in front of your body for full swings. I hate when pros make it easy! John Daly practices it all the time. Why didn't anyone tell me about this when I was 13?

Fully expect to be off 5 by next year!?

Oh Lord. 300 posts. That's a long fence.

I always liked the hitting balls with your eyes shut drill to focus solely on 'feel'

probably best to do it with someone else's range balls as the odd sherman can creep in leading to ball loss!

May be the bloke in the bay next to me keeps trying this, as it might explain why so few of his shots make it out of the bay and onto the range.

You can do this! very impressive, does that mean you can turn up for a medal with a hangover and actually not need to open your eyes.

Faldo always rated this....never tried, I'd fall over with the uncaged power of my 85 mph swing speed. :)

Played on the course today for the first time since starting practicing my drill a week ago and managed 71% of fairways, 50% GIR and 30 putts...thanks to good chipping. Something that works, at last. Praise the Lord.

Now if only I didn't live in a first floor flat I could practice it whilst watching telly.

Sounds pretty decent......50% GIR, not bad, must be helping those irons, ought to play off less if that stays on target.

If it works, stick with it, my best rounds were made with only swing thought...keeps it simple.

PS, I played a practice 9 today (in prep for my h'cap), 4 pars and 5 bogeys, OK (for me, at this time) but I didn't hit a single fairway.....ooh how long since that has happened? I used to be up in the 80%s.....
