It sounds as if you want to stop holding it off through impact.
Drill
Address the ball as normal and just before you hit it, stand up straight and make a practice swing at an imaginary ball about shoulder height. You should feel your right hand fold gently over your left.
Then drop to the ball again and quickly hit it while the feeling is still in your hands.
