I think that myself and Murg share one thing in common in that we dont get on with drivers......While i have a love hate relationship with my 910 D2 i just cant seem to string a consistent shape of shot with it at all.....

At the moment im fighting High hooks and Pushes......Im guessing its the changes iv made to my swing as i have similar issues but not as severe with the irons.....
My 3 wood is a Gem.....It has the same shaft as my driver (Diamana Kiali) but in Regular as opposed to the Stiff version in my Driver.....
An average hit with my 3 wood is about 205 mtrs.....Thats now in winter conditions....A good one from the screws would max at about 215Mtrs......
And i love hitting it....I just cant seem to get any bit of consistency with my driver........When i do get a good one away with it ill carry it about 240ish.....But thats not often.....Tonight at the range i could see where the ball was impacting on the face...Nearly all were from the middle with an odd one near the heel which is my usual miss....But i was spraying the ball everywhere.... I dont care whether i draw or fade it...I just want a shot i know i can use when i need it.

Kid,

You could try setting up with the toe of the Driver in line with the ball when it's grounded at address. As it is higher up at impact this will create a more centred hit at address.

I dont know how you strike the ball but try to hit down a little, this can make a big improvement with some people. Many Tour pros do this. Oh! and swing easy.

Just a thought Kid. Have you asked your pro about your set-up?

When I went for my iron and wedge fitting, I asked the pro about my wood set up.

He asked me what my problem was, which at the time was lack of height and carry. Told him what I had in the bag and he straight away said they were wrong for me.

With me having the swing speed of a 67 year old grandmother of 3, have a low/mid spin shaft in a low spin head (Mizuno MP630) was doing me no favors.

He suggested a mid spin head with either a mid or mid-high spin shaft. He suggested the 910D2 with the Kai'li shaft in regular.

I still play the same shot off the tee with my woods (Push fade) with the same swing speed, but I'm getting a much, much better launch on the ball which, compared to the Mizuno, is giving me a higher flight which has resulted in more carry.

I'm now carrying the ball further than I was getting total (.....With run from) the old driver and get a little more forgiveness from the 460cc head.

Just a thought

Since the lessons SR my Pro has had me pushing my left hip slightly target wards as i had a very slight reverse pivot in my swing which this stopped.....It also helped keep my behind the ball and has me in a better address position...All this coupled with a new swing path ( inside out) has shallowed out my swing plane.....

Now i miss thin rather than fat which used to be my issue....But when i address the ball with the driver my set up feels like im behind the ball but im hitting up on it....I get crazy amounts of launch...
Even when i adjust the loft down on the driver im still hitting it highish.....Its standard at 9.5....

Not yet Gar....Im back with him next Wednesday for my last lesson until this season finishes...I dont really want to go through the summer getting more lessons...And my Pro reckons that there is no need...I just need to get out and play more.
