Doors Advice Please

Can someone 'light my fire'!

I am replacing my seven internal doors and looking for advice from any carpenters/builders as to price & quality.
It is a bit of a minefield for me as I can't really tell the difference between a £20 and a £300 door.
Thanks....any advice appreciated.

cant help with the specifications but we replaced every door in the house as they were these light flimsy filled with cardboard type doors. Get solid wood and get a rating for holding a fire back, think ours are 60 mins, essential on key areas like bedroom/kitchen etc

Even more confused now as I saw a £300 priced door in a quote for sale in Homebase for £89.

Hello Doon... Take a look here... Might give you some ideas... Local family run business [to here] with a very good reputation... Guessing there'll be similar north of the wall... Prefer to use independent over 'nationals' as usually find advice/help being much better...

Thanks Steve, first quote we got was scary. [£300+ doors which we then had to varnish ourselves!]
I contacted the village joiner who showed us a better way to do everything, he uses Howdens who supplied our kitchen stuff a few years ago so hoping for a more realistic price.

I had 5 doors dipped and then the wife used beeswax to give the doors a stressed look. at least I knew the doors fitted the frames when I got them back, new furniture and jobs a good one.

even with the builders cost for fitting them I saved 50% against new doors

Thanks but they are 1970's panel veneer's, nice but dated [that means that they will be in fashion next year]

Your welcome- we bought from Howdens also, solid wood doors £80 each, apply sealant yourself it's not difficult

My favourite composer was Handel. Who later teamed up with Hinge and Brackett to form The Doors
