Does your wife/girlfriend play?

I gave up playing golf on Sundays at the beginning of the year as a promise to the new Mrs J_F. It's my only day off so wanted to spend some decent time together. I'm now encouraging her to take up the game properly. You can see my dastardly plan a mile off, can't you? I'm sure she does.

I hooked up with a girl in the club shop recently and played a round with her. She whooped my ass as she played off 6. Such a lovely swing to match her looks. I'd have married her if I wasn't married already and played with her as much as she wanted!!! :D

My wife's just started and has already cost me tons in clubs, lessons and a Powakaddy buggy (she has arthritis so walking is out before the troley/buggy Poice chip in). Her swing is poor but she has a natural talent with wedges, putting a very high percantage of balls into the target baskets at the driving range long before she had even had a lesson or ventured onto a course.
We play no more that 5 holes together in one go as she builds her confidence as this makes a natural loop round our course. She really enjoys it, I don't yet but I will when she starts playing all the holes in single digit numbers.
I still laugh at a married couple at our club. They are in their 60's, she is an ex county player, still off 9 and has a short game to die for. He is off 21, has never been any better than that despite playing for years, yet he still insists on trying to give her advice and teling her where she went wrong, despite the disparity in their abilities. In those circumstances, my wife would tell me to shut up or skilfully stick her wedge righy up my jacksy !

HID did have lessons and we went away to Ashbury Manor with another couple. She played a few holes on the first afternoon. In the evening we went to their ten pin bowling alley. She overstepped, slipped on the polished lane and fractured her wrist and snapped a tendon. All she could do all week was drive the buggy carefully and one handed. She never played again. She does hit a few balls now and again at the range and still has a decent swing. She is happy for me to go out as often as I like as she has her own hobbies and so we're both happy with the arrangements

I have asked my girlfriend to play a few times but her actually reply was "I would rather stick a fork in my eye!"
I'm quite glad tho to be honest as she is a PE teacher and one of those annoying people who seem to be good at every sport they try and would probably end up beating me and then try and teach me how to do it! I dont think the relationship would last that long if that ever happens" :)

My wife has been playing since I got her a half set before we were married over 20 years ago. She plays at the same club, plays as much as I do in a year and competes well off a handicap that hovers around 17-18. That makes her quite a handy partner for mixed foursomes and mixed stableford opens.

wife can't play because of back issues but she loves going round with me using the camera/camcorder - embarrassing sometimes to watch the pics she takes!!!

Mrs Hawkeye has no interest in golf and I have no interest in trying to persuade her. I wouldn't discourage her if she wanted to play but she doesn't and we're both quite happy with that.
