Does your course have a starting Matrix?

At our place 2 balls go off one tee and 3 & 4 balls off another and this alternates through the day so the 2 balls and 3/4 balls are kept apart as they go round. Seems to work OK.

what a Messed up complicated system

would put me off joining or even playing there

fortunately my old club had a 36 holes so 2's were on one course and 3&4's the other

Im a member at Hagley Golf & Country Club, the course never shuts in effect and you are welcome to tee-off as soon as you can see so to speak.

Visitors can't play before 10:30am on a weekend which is nice.

The best thing i find is that there are no tee off times apart from club comps. You just turn up, wait your turn and tee-off. Brilliant.

Forgot to add, no societies on weekends...EVER!

That is probably the biggest feature of my course. Roll up and go out. If there is a comp you can still go out on the 10th. No booking, never really that big a queue even peak times Saturday and great for the summer evenings

My club has one and it works well, but that one does look like it makes no sense..

Lovely course though Hankley Common, underrated I reckon.

And its £85 a round there having a laugh, noticed there open is £55 to enter jesus royal aberdeen is only £35

But bear in mind that the £55.00 entry fee includes food and a practice round on the course prior to the event and it's terrific value for money. That works out at £27.50 a round with food on the second one. Bargain.

One of the reasons I left Highwoods is their stupid teeing off arrangements at week-ends.
No play at all between 10-12 off either tee.
Fourballs only from the 10th tee from mid-day.
Turned up to play one Sunday with 3 mates, stood round by the 10th ready to go at about quarter to, nobody on the course. 9th was clear, as was the 8th green so nobody expected on the tee for the next 15 minutes or so.
At 10 to 12 I placed a tee in the ground ready to go and somebody came out of the clubhouse saying "you can't tee off until 12!". I said "the course is completely clear!!" to which I was reminded that there was still 10 minutes to go.
Cheerio Highwoods.

And you're expected to pay a joining fee of £3885 plus £1295 per year for the pleasure of being told when and where you can tee off. I don't think so

I liked the one Grimsby golf club had.

At two hour intervals the first tee changed from 3 and 4 balls to singles and twos. If you were in the other group size to the first tee you went off the 10th.

Cannot comment on if it worked as I was a kid when I was a member and never really broke 100 anyway.

Smiffy you will not believe this, but so have i. Hopefully it will be groups based on handicap, otherwise i could be drawn with you. ;)

£55, two rounds and food, to play one of the top heathland courses in the South is a bargain. Thickest heather i have seen on a course, which i think you can vouch for Rob ?
