Does the winter course spoil us?

No, the winter course entices you out at a time of year when you might have stayed at home.

A promise of a good score gets you out and maybe back in the bar spending!

On our course there are two different situations. Either we are just off winter tees, which are only slightly in front of the regular ones (maybe 10 yards at the absolute most), but play to the regular greens. In that case, winter hurts me a lot more than it helps, because scruffy wet fairways kill any roll I normally get and especially my longer clubs are a lot shorter than in summer, making it a real struggle.

On temporary greens, it is a different story. Our temporary greens are located way in front of the regular ones, making the course quite a bit shorter. Putting is a disaster, but most bunkers and penalty areas don't come into play and it is like playing a completely different, much easier course.
