I suppose that the only ones that may be able to answer this for me are the ones that have suceeded.....

For nearly 3 years now i have used a left to right shape for my shots....
My handicap has gone up to 18 again after spending this year messing with my grip and my swing when Bob said wait until the winter...Sorry Bob ;)
For the record the only lesson i have been given is some constructive criticism from Bob over the Net.....

Never had a live lesson....
My last 4 rounds have been on my buffer zone.

I now find myself aiming at my target and having my body lines paralell to this and im now drawing the ball.

But now my 2 bad shots are a push right and a hook...
Does it take long to get comfortable playing for a draw after naturally fading the ball.....

I can still fade the ball if i open my body lines and keep the face pointing at the target so i guess im doing something right....

I'm no expert but I can confidently say the fade was not the reason for your h'cap going up

I didnt say that the fade was what caused my handicap to go up....
The reason that it has crept up is that when you naturally play a fade and then decide to strengthen your grip and get a better swing plane then when your aimed paralell left of your target for a fade and you start hooking the ball and pulling shots your chances of staying in play are alot less....

Anyone that plays a left to right flight will normally be set up paralell left of where the face of there club is aiming....Or they should be....If the are not then their in trouble....

As you know im sure that anyone that plays a fade has an open club face with a slight out to in swing.....
So you can see that when you start to mess with that set up whether it be through a grip change or a swing change then your going to have problems with where the ball starts and finishes.

Tell me about it this year has been a complete write off for me with changing my swing, although I am seeing somme improvements now. All I need to do is practice and play over the winter with a few more tweeks and hopefully push on next year.

Same as that Chris....
I know that there is no point in trying to knock a shot or 2 off now its too late in the season..
But if the last 5 rounds are anything to go by and through the winter i do some more work then i think that next year ill reap the rewards hopefully....

My goal is to be comfortable to be able to hit it both ways with some degree of confidence.

I really think you are getting ahead of yourself kid playing off 16 you should be happy to know where the shot is going without worrying about moving the ball.

Now you and I have never met but reading some of the things you post here makes me think that you over analyse and over think everything. I would say forget about all that stuff and just worry about getting the ball in the hole. I know low single figures guys that dont want to work the ball both ways, what does that tell you?

You could be onto something my friend. ;)
