Does Donalds play today prove something to us hackers?

Oh that, and that the playoff essentially becomes a matchplay contest. Which again, Luke is stronger at. Despite his playoff record!!

Exactly what I said to Fragger. He mentioned that a play-off is basically Matchplay and my reply was "Well who's the best Matchplayer in the World..?"

Poulter ??

The thing that I think this tournament tells us ( well me at least ) is how poor the best players in the world can be.

In round three, when the pressure is minimal, Manassero hit one sand wedge into a bunker on the 16th because he hit it so fat, and was miles ( and I mean miles ) right with another one on the 18th.

Quiros, the happy one, got so cheesed off with one poor shot on the 17th in round three, that he then hit two more pretty identical ones, was incapable of learning from his mistakes, and virtually threw the tournamant away in one hole.

Luke could barely hit a fairway, even with a fairway wood, at times. Over the 3rd and 4th rounds he must have gone into the trees half a dozen times - when he was trying to use a lesser club to play safe, he didn't even have the excuse of using the big dog. He could easily have finished both rounds several shots higher and written off his tournament.

And Westwood has all the shots in the book, until the last few holes, when something kicks in and he finishes worse than Homer on a bad day.

I'm so used to just seeing their great shots I sometimes forget that everyone, even the very, very best, play as many average, or worse, shots every time they go out.

I totally accept the fact that they hit the ball miles further than us, and are proportionally better than us at every aspect of the game. But after that they suffer the same physical and mental problems that we do week after week. The genius in these guys is that they overcome their weaknesses and earn fortunes week after week.

It all gives me a glimmer of hope in my disjointed swing, twitchy putter and feeble mental capabilities.

Considering how wayward he's been off the tee, he's scoring remarkedly well.

Does this conclusively prove that iron play and short game skills are more important than driving length or accuracy?

Sorry. Too many questions.

As Homer mentioned already, nothing we didn't know already. More so at our level when we're not parring every hole anyway.

Even Tim's getting the idea ;)
