In the opening post the OP said he was chipping with a 54 deg SW.
Normally when chipping, a lower lofted club is used but when pitching a higher loft club is used.
I didn't know if the OP was getting his chipping and pitching terminology mixed up which is why I asked in my first reply. The OP Confirmed he was indeed chipping with his SW.
Science boy obviously wasn't sure either if the OP meant chipping or pitching so helpfully provided a description of each shot to help the OP in case he was mixed up.

I always chip and pitch with a 50. All my short game is with a 50, except bunkers and flops, which are a 56.
I would get confused using anything else.
I manipulate the ball flight by opening or closing the face.
