Do you think Westwood has a a point?

I don't like it what media try to draw controversy out of players to sell stories. LW should have known better not to rattle the cage of the beast. After all, when they are pumped up is when they play best.

Tiger might know a little something about pressure or maybe about winning. Hard to see how that would be a bad thing to have in your corner.

His record stands against anyone in tourneys as we all know and did phenomenally well as an amateur in match play - interesting if those skills have diminished or are they as fresh as they once were? I just struggle to get over his almost complete apathy to the Ryder cup in the past to the all-new 'keen' version.

There is no doubt in my mind that Tiger the human being (not the golfer) has made a lot of changes in his life. I have seen him smile a number of times in the last few years. Perhaps he is humbled a little?

He does seem different - would have to be inhuman to have not had a good think or two about his life and what he could do differently

Will be genuinely interesting to see how it pans out; I'm still skeptical (probably based on old history now) but then again it's nice to be wrong on matters sometimes... ;)

Yes, I must admit I thought he had changed in his personal life prior to Lindsey Vonn but it was reported that he cheated on her.

Westwood should've left the Tiger-baiting to Poulter! I have a feeling that Poulter will have a more positive impact in the team room than Tiger..........unless of course Tiger is just there to beat at table tennis!!

I hear Phil is Mr Table Tennis.

Apparently so. So Eldrick will be the whiff-whiff whipping boy for Team U.S of A every evening and make themselves feel better after being spanked by Clarkey's boys!!!!

Having Tiger turn up to effectively support the cause I think the U.S team can only appreciate this.

I put myself in the position of making the U.S. team, do i want the arguably the best golfer in history in the locker room offering his influence? The answer is a resounding yes

I'd heard it was Kooch.

As far as Westwood goes, a cousin of mine is a professional sports coach. When discussing stuff like this, one of his rules has always been "never give an opponent a reason to hate you." Looks like he's never had a chat with Lee then…….

Lee Westwood is reported to have questioned whether Tiger Woods will have a good influence on how Team USA performs in the Ryder Cup.

Personally, on balance, I think he'd be an asset because the crowd will want USA to win and Tiger's presence will also boost that momentum.

Not so sure Tiger has ever really been the team player? We'll see but from a team perspective we are much better off comparing Poulter and his RC passion

I'm surprised that the general opinion on here is that Tiger will be a positive influence really. This is despite the fact that he's only been part of 1 winning Ryder Cup team (out of 6 attempts). And in that victory he only won 2 out of 5 possible points.

It's not exactly a record to intimidate an opponent, so why would it galvanise a team?

Remember the Solheim cup when Europe were battering the US and that weird non give me, give me thing happened, you just knew at that point the US would win.

even if your name is Philly Mick?
i doubt those two will exchange more than a glance at eachother.

maybe Westy knows more than we do ,i would think he does .
its no secret that Tiger wasnt a team man and that is what i would imagine Westy is questioning.

There is no right or wrong answer, my opinion is that i think overall having him would be beneficial, i get he has a poor record, but he is not playing

The bit about the mind coach, saying do not give your opponent a reason to hate you, seriously bang on, all pro athletes should know this!
