Do The more expensive clubs improve your game?

Surely the sweetspot in those old clubs is the size of a pin???

Interesting comment that,just brought a new set of clubs and the guy gave me a booklet about the myths of golf and one of them was the sweetspot on a driver is the size of a pinhead,and what some companys do is put a mark on the clubhead the size of a ball so you would think this is the size of the sweetspot,its just a marketing ploy.
