As many companies, we get kids in on work experience. A part of their week is spent in my department where we set them a small project - nothing difficult, but it does require them to write English.

My then boss wrote to one school saying that the standard of English among the current crop was abysmal. They were so annoyed they haven't sent us any for sometime.

Unfortunately it's spreading. One of the things I do is proof reading, for bids amongst others. I came across 'x through y' in the latest tome - but they had at least spelled 'through' correctly.
