Dishwasher Question

One for the dishwasher people out there. I cleaned out the filter on our Bosch machine yesterday. When I went to slot it back in the filter it stuck a little and when re-fitting the piece below snapped off. I can't work out if it does anything of note but the filter is in okay now.

Is it important? Can I keep using the machine or do I need to get a proper person in and have a new bit fitted to replace it?

have the same ish bosch one, is it the twist top bi that's broken? i would assume as long as the mesh tube filter is in, and the metal plate is secure down enough it will be fine.

I'm not at home right now but I will check later. I assumed, always dangerous, that the bit snapped off was in the section that didn't lift off but what you say makes sense. I will twist off the mesh tube filter, lift that and the plate out and see if it is from there. My worry was there would be water gushing everywhere when it is on but it may just be a piece that helps it slot in more than anything. Yes, the metal plate is in nice and tight still.

I ran a short wash this afternoon and got an error message, E24. It isn't draining. Clearly that part does do something ☹

Its the drain pump impellor cover.
It mounts long spike uppermost, with the tab engaging into the sump with a little click
Holding it by the spike or tab, push the round bottom into the sump floor (theres an exact location for it about 5:30 if the sump is a horizontal clock) then once the bottom is located swing it towards you and it will engage and the tab lock it in place
You do need to remove the filters to access this in the sump. It is easy to do, just take your time as a novice
