Just a quick note. You won't need one for your iPad when you're in the states. You'll be browsing the internet using a US IP, so you'll be able to access Netflix.com.

yes I know that, it was for watching BBC iPlayer back in good old blighty as the BBC block foreign ip's accessing.

Well you can pay for the services, not sure what companies charge you, but IIRC it was upward of 80quid a year or do what i did and install a VPN box at my house. Box cost about 120 quid. My dad and his two friends in france use it.
