Disappointing day...

Had our first singles board comp today and for the first time in my career, I NR'd after 13 holes, very disappointed.

I was losing balls left right and centre, was +7 thru 5 and then took an 11 on the 6th.. Sliced tee shot into a hazard, dropped, duffed punch shot, 7 iron then stuck in a tree, drop, back in the tree but came out, bunker, fringe, putt, putt.. Came back with a par, bogey, par, bogey, then lost a ball of the tee on 11 another drop, finishing with DB, par'd the next and thought right we are playing better now.. Boy was I wrong..

I then went on to score a 14 on he par 4 13th.. Sliced tee shot, back on fairway, shank to never going to find rough, drop, shank into never going to find rough, drop, shank into never going to find rough, drop, hazard, drop, green, putt, putt, putt...

Wasn't enjoying the round, so NR'd.. Really disappointed as I've been playing well past couple of weeks.. Oh well, back to the range, club champs next week...

Ouchy. Need to sort those shanks out matey. Russian roulette otherwise never sure when the next one will appear. Sounds like you are doing something seriously wrong to get that many in one hit

Tell me about it, I think I had just been swing too hard all day, I normally have a nice smooth swing and one of my main issues is speeding it up. Think after the first I tried to over compensate for it and did it again, then just got angry at myself.. Going to the range tomorrow for a few hours to get my game straight.

Because I didn't play 14-17 my playing partners said that I should play 18, so I did and bogied, decent tee shot, decent approach just off the green and two putt. Think I just put too much pressure on myself.
