Had time to think about things this morning and remembered back to when there was no custom fitting and only reg or stiff shafts and blades. I loved the game and got to single figures in my first year but levelled out then and stayed around the 4-6 mark for the last umpteen years!
So, that's where I felt custom fitting clubs will hopefully help to eradicate the inconsistencies and get the h/cap down.
I've now been for 7 custom fittings in the last 14 mths, all paid for and each only ever really used about 4-6 shafts and none 'found' the shaft/shafts that suited my game. One even said "Try this tour shaft, you'll prob not be able to hit it" and I got similar stats with it and it was a £700 shaft for a (low level) tour guy. A couple were obviously not working for me but pretty much every stiff shaft from 50g-75g I hit well (some didnt feel right so that was usefull).
So the outcome after hundreds of pounds and hours is I feel just to try drivers/clubs and shafts myself and if I like the feel/flight/sound/look and distance I see it going then thats right for me irrespective of 'stats'.
Once I find one suitable combo I might still use it on a trackman for affirmation as opposed to deciding.
Bit longer post than anticipated and I'm not decrying custom fitting, far from it, but just sometimes you know yourself what works for you.
