Dilemma - Use or sell my new (in the wrapper) Ping i15 driver

James, it's your driver, you're free to do with it as you please.

Your driving is excellent anyway, sell the thing and buy yourself a personality.....

Failing that, donate it to one of our aged forum population - Bobmac needs a new walking stick..... :)

Last year we had a forum member that was given a set of irons (Wilson I think), as part of the reader test panel for the mag. He came on here bragging about how much he got for them on ebay. (He sold them very quickly). The result was that GM Towers weren't to chuffed about it. The whole thing turned into a bit of a [****] fight and got a bit nasty.

I'm not going to get involved in this one, but thought that I'd pass on a bit of historical information out of interest.

I actually think this thread says more about custom fitting, than it does of James's character.

Smiffy wouldn't get a 9 degree off the deck with his swing speed.

Just for your information Murph, a bit of digging around on the 'net came up with this.....

If it is correct, then my swing speed (as measured by Ping) is slightly higher than average for a male golfer. Not by much, but just above it at 89mph. My spin rate and launch angles were "perfect" according to the fitter (who is an expert, not a duffer with a hang up over Ping clubs) and the new driver gave me 15 yards (on average) more carry than my old one.
Yes....I bit
;)

That's a good article. I have alot of respect for Tom Wishon. The guy knows his stuff.

It explains why the ladies you see on the golf course use drivers on the par 3s too.

LOL :D ....How much are they nowadays?

I'm not sure why I've ended up with a fade biased driver if my natural shot is a draw (which I happen to like) :D

I've never understood the whole 'custom fitting' thing as they seem to give you the club you hit the furthest on the day and not the one you control the best. I sliced about 5 over the right hand fence and yet can't slice my own driver if I try! Perhaps if you were a pro and could either be there for the entire day or make lots of visits so they could see your stats over a period of time it might have some effect.

Not sure it is fade biased, just sits a tad open so you don't hook it.

They would end up giving you a 7 iron, great dispersion, no distance.

I actually agree with you though, especially as you don't realy need the distance.

Question is, do they make a really forgiving driver? Titleist don't, so I guess I was wrong to go there in the first place.

Has anyone had there ping driver yet? I've still not had chance to get mine!

Thinking of just finding a ping fitter and taking away the specs. The sweet spot on my ft-5 is almost worn out :-D
