Dilemma - 3 wood

I feel the same with the old 3 wood. I don't why I carry it, I will only used it once a round to tee off at the 5th at our club. I recently bought a Titleist 909 D2 and thats been great and I am somewhat tempted to blow £130 on the 3 wood.

Anyone got one and what do they think?

I've got a 909D2 driver and 909F2 3-wood. I've not had any others since I only started playing again a few months ago, but I get on with them fine.

Exsar stiff standard.

I have the same club with the same shaft. When first bought I thought it was brilliant. Nowadays it seems as if the club no longer works! So much so I've lost all confidence in it, especially off the tee. On the occasional fairway shots I've used it, there seems to be a tendency to slice or block it right.
I often wonder if the shaft is too stiff for my swing (not particularly fast)

Everytime I'm in a shop I always tend to give the 3 woods a once over but have so far held off buying.

Would like to try a few out down the range but uncertain what to try.
Possibly medium shaft with a decent sized face to inspire confidence. Any suggestions?

I am thinking about looking at a new 3 wood (can you hear me Santa). I'm not confident off the tee with my Cleveland even on the range. Funnily enough off the deck or the range mat its a beast but ask it for a safe tee shot short and straight (I'd take long and straight too) then it seems I'm asking for a miracle. As I don't "need" a 3 wood per se at my course in winter other than off the deck then I may hold fire and send my current model for therapy

I've just returned to a 4 wood/7 wood combo as I had huge distance gaps before.
Also the 3 wood was becoming a little unreliable - sublime when caught right, ridiculous when it wasn't (about 75% of the time)
I can still get 230 out of the 4 wood but it is easier to hit and now more forgiving (Gone for a Cleveland launcher 17 degree)

I fecking HATE my 3 wood!!!!
I have had numerous 3 woods and i always have a 2 week honeymoon period with them before it goes horribly wrong.

As i've sort of finished now for the season and spend more time on the practice ground making changes for the spring, i threw the dreaded back in the bag and thought i'd make sure i sorted it this winter.....first few i hit were fantastic.....then normal service was resumed!!!

I just have to face facts......i can't hit a 3 wood! :D

Driver no problem, 19deg rescue off tee or deck no problem, 2 iron off tee or deck no problem......3 wood...arghhhh!!!!

Practicing the right techniques with the 3-wood will help, irrespective of manufacturer.

As the saying goes 'you'll only ever get out of your game what you put into it'...and the more good shots you hit with your 3-wood...the more good shots you will hit with your 3-wood.

Everyone has a club they prefer and one they don't...usually it's because of the memories associated with the club.

There was a TM burner 3 wood (high launch) screaming at me this morning. I was talking to the new Sales Manager for the AG store opening in Guildford who was doing his first day at Camberley while I was there and it kept finding its way into my hand. I don't realy want the high launch model (or a new 3 wood at all if truth be told) but the guy kept trying to do me a deal. To the amazement of all on the GM forum I left it alone and didn't even hit any balls with it. Think I'm sickening for something
