My point was it is only a bargain if you actually intended to buy it before the sales. It may be cheaper than usual if you get it in the sales but a true bargain saves you money, not just spending less.

No one has to intend to buy anything for it to qualify as a bargain.

For example - those shoes are a bargain - not buying them, just pointing it out.

I think some folk are unaware that bargains can be had/sales are on, all year round. Just seems to be this 'sale period' that grabs multiple threads though, as if it has any more savings than any other bargain bought at any other time of the year

I wish I knew a few of you when I was selling timeshare! :p

Having worked in retail for 20 years of course there are sales in across the year, Around April the Suntan lotion goes out for the summer, on half price and you sell loads more, this is ongoing based on the selling season. The sale at this time of year works really well as it's Xmas so some reductions are appreciated on stuff you would be buying regardless and the most expensive time of year. We find it useful, my son has his birthday on Friday so that covers that as well.

We are a little bit miserable aren't we really, sucking the life and joy out of anything, I don't know what purpose it serves to be honest, maybe people need to look at themselves more as to why many feel the need to act in that way, are their lives so miserable and unhappy they need to whinge and whine at those who are not that way. It's a bit sad really, remember going to work and having that colleague who always complained and whined about everything that everyone ignored, we should all try not to be like that.

Don't you find with almost everything people just want to feel like they are smarter than the system and have not been "sucked in" or become "sheep" like everyone else

I've certainly found this year's sales to be a bit more generous than "normal".

Personally, never seen the tools companies discounting like they have been. I just bought a load of stuff that I would normally buy in the 'sales' through the year (just consumables like sanding discs, cutterhead blades, finish oils etc) and compared a like for like order from last year and it was just shy of £800 cheaper than November last year.

Feel like I did get a proper bargain though as I wanted to upgrade the cutter head in my planer to a spiral block but it was crazy expensive but managed to get it in what some are implying is a "fake sale" black Friday deals for about 40% of it's normal price. It is now back to it's full price.

Been after a PS5 for a while but was waiting for them to come down in price a bit in the Black Friday sales. Got one for £399.99 rather than the usual £479.99.

Oh, I also had a £100 gift card to spend at the Forest shop as a 40th gift from some friends.

Waited for the Black Friday week deals to come along (a new deal every day) and pulled the trigger when the day came that home shirts were reduced from £75 to £50 as well as a training jacket down to £50. Job done.

Not 4 days later (in the same sale), they reduced the home shirt by a further £14  I was livid.
