Well iv decided to head to the club in the morning for the first time since my injury.
As im still in my walking boot im somewhat limited with mobility.....I had initially thought about hiring a buggy and playing 18 at least i wouldnt have to be slogging about.....

So as my Dad and cousin are playing and as its a qualifying comp iv decided to just take my wedge and my putter and a dozen balls and spend the time it takes them to play their round practicing my chipping and putting....

The more i thought about the buggy the more i realized that it would be a bit unfair of me to be making unwanted noise around the course and put other people off their games......

Right or wrong decision?

I know you're in a protective boot, but by playing, even chipping and gentle pitching, are you not running the risk of potentially aggravating and prolonging your injury?

Eh?

Would you be the only one ever to use a buggy at your course? You have more reason than most of the folk I see using one at ANY course I have ever played.

No Pal....
Funny thing with being in a cast for a while is that the physio's want you to get back exercising the joints that haven't been used properly....
She wanted me using only one crutch by next week....Iv pushed myself a bit more and dropped both....So im kind of limping about not as the boot is only so liberating...You still cant bend at the ankle as its heavily strapped into the boot....

The only issue i have with regard to swinging a club is holding a balanced finish because the injured leg is my left one and im right handed

I was also thinking along those lines Chris.....
I suppose ill wait and see what the morning brings.....I was out walking for miles along the river today with HiD's the kids and the dog.....I mightn't be able to wag in the morning :):):)

Chip'n'putt.

If you try making full, proper swings with the boot on it'll feel wierd, you'll naturally compensate for it and screw your swing up.
If you can't make a full, proper swing I'd wait until you can.

new train of thought in rehabilitation - blood flow and using affected joint/muscles. Years ago if you sprained your ankle we were told to not put weight on it, keep elevated. Modern way is to weight bare as soon as possible

Get a buggy and play. what benefit are you getting chipping and putting with a boot on?

I wpuld have said chip and putt. Feel is the first thing to go when you have a lay off and so keeping that ticking over will make it easier when you get the green light to get back out there. Anything that has a golf club hitting a ball has to be better than nothing in my book

Only you will know mate but id wait if i was you , wouldnt start back in a comp in case you cant finish , play 9 during the week or after the comp tomorrow & see how ya feel then .. back too early or a twist or anything could see ya out a while .. your nearly there , so patience mate would be my advice ..
