Well after weeks of not knowing if my driver was going straight, straight right of way off left! I took the plunge and went for a fitting at my local range.
Armed with Flightscope technology, every driver and shaft in their shop and a very patient Pro I've found 2 clubs which seem perfect for me and neither is one I went there thinking would be on my list!
I won't bore you with numbers or the details of spin ratios etc...
But I tried everything from the Nike Covert to Titleist 913 D3 & D2, tried Taylormades R1 & RBZ Stage 2IER! tried the new Razor Extreme as well as the driver I really wanted to be one for me in the Cobra AMP Cell. But it was none of these that came out on tops for me.
The 2 drivers that came out on top were both with a stiff shaft and they Were the Callaway XHot and the Wilson D100, my shot dispertion on both was superbly tight compared to all the others I tried which is what I wanted when I went down there to find something thats going to keep me in play and out of the woods where i'm playing most of my golf from at the moment.
The little added bonus was a bit more distance, now i've always preached I prefer accuracy over length but if I can add that in with a tighter shot dispertion then why not aye!
The dilemma begins with:
a) not expecting or really wanting it to be either of these 2 as my final choices
b) the difference between the 2 length and accuracy wise can't be split so its going to come down to price and which looks better & which I want to have seen in my bag
c) the range not wanting to take my G20 in part ex as they already have others to shift in the same specs, so I need to sell it on but don't know what to sell it for now the G25 is about
They are retailing the Callaway at £229 but the D100 at a superb £179 so quite a difference and I can't work out which I prefer the look of so am deliberating which to order as neither is in stock with the shaft flex I wanted.
So what would my fellow forumers do about options b & c, as I know I will be buying one but with a new nipper on the way I cannot afford to have a club i'll not use again gathering dust in the spare room.
Help!
